My experience: NYFW February 2015

IMG_6282

Hi loves! I just got back from a week at New York Fashion Week where I was working as a host for Fashion One TV, it was an amazing experience! During my stay, I lived and breathed fashion! I woke up very early to get ready, and of course post some updates for you on instagram. The first day I took a taxi to Lincoln Center, where most of the shows were held, but I quickly realized that the only way to get around in New York is the subway, unless you are willing to spend half your day in traffic… And that was a luxury I definitely didn’t have! So for the rest of my stay I turned into what I would like to say is a “mini new yorker”, I had my waking shoes to wear on the subway which I would switch out for heels right before the show.

Along with Fashion One TV I got to go to so many shows, but the best part of it was getting to go backstage. To gain backstage access your name has to be on a list, but even when it’s on the list, some designers can be very special and only allow a small group of people in at a time… So you have to wait in line!! I learned that backstage is total chaos, models, stylists, photographers and media everywhere. Of course, I couldn’t forget my friends from security, they would always look at you as though thinking “you shouldn’t be here”, until you flashed your media badge, then their entire attitude would change to “of course, welcome!!!”. Backstage was chaos but at the same time it was a waiting game, designers are very important people and believe me, they will make you wait for an interview… But it’s worth it! Work backstage isn’t only about the designers though, one of my favorite parts was interviewing the stylists, make up artists and even the models. It was really interesting to see how they got to walk those shows, although I heard the same story a lot “I was scouted and now Im here” Makes it seem so easy!!

Once the backstage interviews were done, we would wait for the show to begin, a lot of times I got to see the models practice their walk and felt so lucky to witness something that isn’t usually shown. I would say this moment was the calm before the storm,  by the time the doors opened, it was total chaos again. People went inside almost running! For me it was always entertaining to look for familiar faces and had the chance to meet a few celebs, which is always fun!! After the show… It’s go time!! Time to start all over again, another backstage and another show!!!

This NYFW experience was a lot different from my previous one, mostly I think because of the weather. Honestly, it was hard! It was hard to pick the clothes, to get from A to B, to shoot pictures, because we had to deal with below freezing temperatures while doing everything. But it was definitely worth it, it was such a unique experience and the city is so different this time of year! Besides, thanks to all the shows, now I know exactly what to wear for next winter!!! My interviews will air soon on Fashion One TV, but don’t worry… I’ll share them with you here as well!!

Fashion Week Interviews

IMG_8979

Good morning loves!! A few months back I traveled to New York for Fashion Week, my job there was to interview different designers for Fashion One TV. It truly was an incredible experience, I had never done something like it before and I was a bit nervous since I had to interview really important people in the industry. But thankfully, everything came out just fine and some of the interviews have already gone live and I want to share them with you 🙂 Here are 3 different videos, the first one is partially in spanish and the last 2 ones in english. I hope you enjoy!

NYFW Day 2

IMG_8897

Good morning loves!! Our second day in NYC was my first official day at fashion week and at first I didn’t have any shows scheduled, only a meeting with my team at Fashion One TV that will be with me covering the whole event. However, surprise, surprise! I ended up in one of my favorites, Herve Leger, and best of all, I was so close to the runway I could almost hear the models hungry stomach hahaha Since I really wasn’t planning on going to any shows, I was planning on wearing a different outfit, but since it was SO hot outside… I had to improvise! This look was probably my plan Z, since every one agreed it wasn’t “fashion week appropriate” and I wasn’t too sure either. To my surprise, when I arrived at Lincoln Center, it seemed to be loved by all the photographers… And I wanted to go crawl and hide under a rock! I’m so shy for this! I guess this goes to prove first impressions aren’t always right and that an outfit really can be transformed with hair, accessories and of course, make up!!

After the show we ran to change clothes, I was really exhausted so I just grabbed the first thing out of my suitcase! We went to see the famous Broadway musical, Wicked! It’s Wicked Good 😉 If you have the chance, definitely go see it!! Unfortunately we don’t really have pictures from the night since we barely made it to the show, the last one in this post is me being captured at one of the MILLION red lights in NYC!!

NYFW Day 1

IMG_8707

Good morning gorgeous! Today I’m back home and you have no idea how good it feels, unfortunately it’s just me… My bag got left back in NYC!!! We got to spend an amazing 4 days in the city for my first New York Fashion Week and it was definitely a new experience that I’m so thankful for. I was there working as a TV Host, doing the shows and backstage interviews with designers, stylists and models… It was amazing and I really hope to be able to do it again!

I didn’t have any shows on the day we flew into NYC but I did have a couple meetings so I wanted to dress cute, relaxed but with something that didn’t make me too hot… The weather was so crazy that day, I almost melted!! Since the trip was completely for work and we had such a packed schedule I didn’t really have any time to do sightseeing, but luckily our hotel was next to Grand Central Station so that’s where we took the subway… By the way, that was a whoooole new adventure, we got lost almost every time! Grand Central is sooo beautiful and HUGE, it has to be…. With so many people coming and leaving!!! After our meetings we visited Times Square and it was truly amazing, I think no camera lens can fully truly capture the madness of the place, definitely worth the visit!

Hola preciosas!
